Professional Performance Opportunities for Youth in Sullivan County
Forestburgh, NY — The Forestburgh Playhouse is pleased to announce its 2026 Local Auditions for the upcoming Summer Season, offering young performers from Sullivan County and the surrounding region the opportunity to participate in a professional theatre environment. This annual casting initiative is designed to cultivate emerging talent and provide meaningful, hands-on performance experience alongside professional artists on the Playhouse’s mainstage.

This program reflects the Forestburgh Playhouse’s ongoing commitment to arts education, youth development, and strengthening connections within the local creative community.
Audition Opportunities
Ages 5–12: The Wizard of Oz
Young performers are invited to audition for ensemble and featured ensemble roles in the Playhouse’s production of The Wizard of Oz. Selected participants may perform as Munchkins, Flying Monkeys, Winkies, and other ensemble characters, gaining valuable experience in singing, movement, and stage performance.
Audition Requirements:
- Prepare a 16-bar vocal selection (approximately 30–45 seconds)
- Bring piano or sheet music if available; an accompanist will be provided
- If sheet music is unavailable, performers may sing a song of their choice
If Cast:
- Rehearsals begin mid-June, primarily on weekends with some weekday mornings
and evenings closer to opening - Performances run July 9 through August 1, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:00 AM
- Cast members are expected to perform in a minimum of four performances
Ages 13–18: 2026 Junior Resident Company (Jr. ResCo)
The Forestburgh Playhouse is also accepting auditions for its Junior Resident Company, an advanced training and performance program modeled after the professional Resident Company. This selective program offers dedicated young artists an immersive and comprehensive theatrical experience.
Jr. ResCo members will:
- Perform in the ensemble of Dear Evan Hansen
- Perform in The Wizard of Oz and understudy principal roles
- Appear in a featured summer cabaret or concert performance
- Participate in master classes with professional theatre artists
- Perform at community events supporting Playhouse productions
- Attend all seven Mainstage Producer RunsPresent a special “Yellow Brick Road” concert during the season
Audition Requirements:
- Prepare two contrasting 16-bar vocal selections
- Bring sheet music for the accompanist
- Participate in a brief group movement call
