98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon Awards $75,000 to Sullivan County Organizations
MONTICELLO, NY – Bold Gold Media and the 48th Annual 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon proudly distributed $75,000 in grant funding to six Sullivan County organizations during a check presentation held at Resorts World Catskills.
This year's funding recipients included Garnet Health Medical Center - Catskills, which received support for a cardiac telemetry system in its Medical Surge Department to enhance monitoring capabilities for cardiac patients; Sullivan 180 for its Warrior Teen Film Series, empowering local youth to share their experiences through storytelling and film; The STEAM Fund for its Full STEAM Ahead with Healthy Habits Initiative, integrating health education into hands-on student learning; A Single Bite for its Real Food Education Program, connecting youth with nutritious food and healthy eating skills; NAMI Sullivan County for mental health outreach, education, and support services; and SUNY Sullivan for Stethoscopes for the Nursing Program, helping equip future healthcare professionals entering the workforce.
The 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon Committee also announced new leadership as planning begins for the 49th Annual 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon in 2027. Cris Spinner has been named Committee Co-Chair, joining longtime Chair Les Kristt. A dedicated community volunteer and civic leader, Spinner brings new energy and leadership to an event that has become one of Sullivan County's most enduring charitable traditions.
The committee also named Jerry Skoda as Honorary Chair in recognition of his decades of service to Sullivan County. Skoda served as Executive Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County from 1968 to 1998 and played a significant role in advancing agriculture, education, economic development, and community engagement throughout the region. His legacy is commemorated through the Gerald J. Skoda Extension Education Center in Liberty.
