Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan Announces 2025 Hudson Valley Animal Shelter Fund Grant Recipients
MONTGOMERY, NY (March 10, 2025) – The Hudson Valley Animal Shelter Fund, a Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan component fund, recently distributed grants totaling $16,500 to five organizations dedicated to rescuing, sheltering, and defending animals.
The 2025 Hudson Valley Animal Shelter recipients include:
Arrowhead Ranch Horse Rescue for Essential Utility Improvements
Arrowhead Ranch, established in 2019 in Sullivan County, provides a safe and compassionate environment for horses and other farm animals. The grant will help improve essential utilities at the ranch, which cares for 11 rescues and 13 boarded horses. The ranch also offers guided tours and therapeutic programs to engage the community.
Hudson Valley Animal Rescue and Sanctuary for New Surgical Equipment
Hudson Valley Animal Rescue and Sanctuary (HVARS) rescues and cares for animals while providing affordable medical services throughout the region. With the grant, HVARS will purchase new surgical equipment to enhance its medical procedures and expand its services, including wildlife rehabilitation.
Helpers With Heart for Expansion Shed & Supply Pantry
This volunteer-driven organization, based in Orange County, will use the grant to purchase a shed to expand its trap, neuter, and vaccine program and improve the pet supply pantry. Helpers With Heart provides advocacy, education, and support for animals and the community.
Dumped & Stray Animal Rescue for Trap Neuter Vaccinate Return (TNVR)
Serving Orange and Sullivan counties, Dumped & Stray Animal Rescue focuses on reducing the feral and community cat population through TNVR efforts. The grant will support their ongoing TNVR program, improving the health of feral cats and reducing overpopulation.
Ark of Grace Animal Sanctuary for Feed Pantry
Ark of Grace Animal Sanctuary will use the grant to support its feed pantry, which provides specialized feed and supplements to animals in need. This pantry ensures that the sanctuary can meet the diverse nutritional needs of its animals, even when donations are low.
The Hudson Valley Animal Shelter Fund was established in 2015 through a generous bequest from Jean Rowe and will provide financial assistance to nonprofit animal welfare agencies throughout the Hudson Valley in perpetuity. Since its inception, more than $120,000 has been awarded to support a variety of capital and project expenses for several nonprofit animal organizations in the region.
