Monticello, NY – November 18, 2024 – On Thursday, November 14th, the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce marked its 50th Anniversary with a Gala at the Villa Roma Resort, attracting over 320 attendees from across the region. The event, which included dignitaries, business owners, and community leaders, celebrated the Chamber’s rich history while honoring those who have made a lasting impact on the community.

A memorable moment of the evening came when Ashley Leavitt, President/CEO of the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce, invited current board members, including those from the Foundation and the incoming 2025 Board of Directors to the stage for a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony. This symbolic act marked the beginning of the Chamber’s next 50 years of growth and progress.

Robert Ernst, who was honored with the 50th Anniversary Award, took the stage to reflect on the past five decades. He recounted the Chamber’s beginnings in 1974 when he founded the organization, recalling the early challenges and triumphs. Robert highlighted the Chamber’s growth over the years, its evolving role in the community, and the countless individuals and businesses that have contributed to its success. His remarks served as a reminder of the Chamber's pivotal role in shaping the future of Sullivan County, and the legacy of collaboration and progress that continues to thrive today.

The evening also featured the presentation of the 2024 Pride of Community Awards, recognizing individuals and organizations for their exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to Sullivan County. The following recipients were honored for their outstanding contributions:

  • Businessperson of the Year – Bruce Davidson
  • 50th Anniversary Award – Robert Ernst
  • Distinguished Achievement Award – Sullivan County Sheriff's Office
  • Distinguished Service Award – Aileen Gunther, NYS Assembly District 100
  • President’s Award – Rutberg Breslow Personal Injury Law
  • Emerging Leader Award – Kellee Thelman, Sullivan 180
  • DEI Workplace Excellence Award – SALT Sullivan Allies Leading Together
