2025 Agricultural Workshops from CCE Sullivan’s Agricultural Department
LIBERTY, NY – Every program at CCE Sullivan, no matter its subject focus, strives to improve the quality of life for residents in Sullivan County through educational resources and opportunities. For 2025, Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County’s (CCESC) agricultural department is excited to announce the following programs and workshops geared to support farmers through the year:
Wednesday, January 29th, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
This virtual program is intended to explore the practical and economic advantages of choosing sires with beneficial genetics to ensure your animals achieve their maximum genetic potential. The speaker for this program, Dr. Adam Murray, Ph.D., Beef Cattle Extension Specialist from Cornell University PRO Livestock, will go over the basics of livestock genetics, how to read and understand a genetic analysis, and select sires with desirable traits.
Thursday, January 30th, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
New York farmers facing climate impacts are invited to explore available funding and best options for farm energy updates! This workshop will feature speakers from NYSERDA/EnSaveWe, Ag Energy NY, and Daylight Saving on topics such as the state agricultural energy audit program, available energy upgrades for each farm sector, agricultural energy audits, and helping farms identify renewable energy and efficiency opportunities!
Wednesday, February 12th, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Want to learn how to organize and manage a CSA for your farm? Want to engage with organizations that organize multi-farm CSAs? Join us for a panel discussion on this and more! Panelists will include Tianna Kennedy from the 607CSA, Kate Ansreicher from the Hudson Valley CSA Coalition, and a farmer to represent a variety of CSA models from large multi-farm CSAs to farm-led CSAs. A question-and-answer session will follow with the panelists to allow attendees the opportunity to learn more.

Wednesday & Thursday, February 26th – February 27th, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM – Liberty, NY
Learn about produce safety, the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule, Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), and co-management of natural resources and food safety. The course will provide a foundation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) and co-management information, FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirements, and details on how to develop a farm food safety plan. After attending the entire course, participants will be eligible to receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) that verifies they have completed the training course. To receive an AFDO certificate, a participant must be present for the entire training and submit the appropriate paperwork to their trainer at the end of the course.
