[LIBERTY]— Join Sullivan Renaissance Wednesday August 3 at 6pm for a return trip and interpretive historical walk of the Bindy Bazaar Trail. This trail, located at the site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival, is being restored by the Museum at Bethel Woods. Phase II of the restoration project includes the newly expanded Groovy Way and a recently discovered archaeological site. Dr. Neal V. Hitch, Bethel Woods Senior Curator, and Eleanor Hein, Landscape Preservation Fellow will lead the walk.
The “Bindy Woods” were an active section of the 1969 Woodstock Music & Art Fair with a variety of vendors, artists, and festival attendees. Whispers of the past, heard through oral histories and physical marks left from 1969, highlight the unique footprint of a monumental event from the perspective of a cozy wood on Max Yasgur’s property.
“2022 marks the second year of the current partnership with Sullivan Renaissance to finish restoring the Bindy Bazaar trails. The Museum at Bethel Woods is happy to invite guests of Sullivan Renaissance to visit the Bindy Bazaar Trails and experience the serenity of this local gem,” Eleanor Hein shared. “We are excited to involve residents and supporters of Sullivan County in this important project as we preserve its history, integrity, and impact.”
Participants will meet in Parking Lot A near the Bindy Bazaar Trail entrance at the start of the seminar. Remember to wear hike appropriate footwear, and pack rain gear, just in case of a notorious Woodstock shower. The event will be limited to 40 participants. Families are welcome, no dogs please.
