About this event
The Laura Flanders Show is holding its first in-person fundraiser on Sunday, October 16, in beautiful Callicoon, New York.
Meet best-selling author and TV host Laura Flanders with special guest, environmentalist Bill McKibben, founder of 350.org and Third Act and participate in a live taping of the only show on the PBS network that is independently produced and syndicated in rural Sullivan County, NY.
The event is being hosted by Catskill Mountainkeeper, the region's leading environmental organization, with food and drink provided by Catskill Provisions' Pollinator Spirits, a woman-owned gastro-distillery specializing in locally-grown, sustainably made food products and environmental protection.
McKibben will be taking questions and signing copies of his most recent book, The Flag The Cross and the Station Wagon: A Graying American Looks Back at His Suburban Boyhood and Wonders What the Hell Happened.
Also performing will be special guest, Taina Asili, Albany-based, Puerto Rican singer, filmmaker and activist carrying on the tradition of her ancestors, fusing past and present struggles into one soulful and defiant voice.
Buy a ticket to attend in person or watch the live stream, or make a donation to support this independently produced non-commercial program that brings social justice reporting to over 200 million people in the US on over 300 stations on the PBS network. (Also available on radio and as a podcast.)
The Laura Flanders Show is an award-winning, weekly half-hour TV & radio program hosted by best selling author and Nation Magazine contributor, Laura Flanders. The show features investigative reports and interviews with leading forward-thinking activists, authors, artists and entrepreneurs about making positive change in today’s troubled world.
“We’re all about pollinating good ideas” says Laura Flanders who calls her program “the place where the people who say it can’t be done take a backseat to the people who are doing it.”
Funds from the event will go to support Curious Communications, the not-for-profit 501c3 organization that produces and distributes The Laura Flanders Show. Donations beyond the ticket price will be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
A collection will also be made for Puerto Rican hurricane relief.
