Spring into your Garden
Woody plants are a long-lived property investment. Keeping trees and shrubs pruned will keep them in shape and healthy. Hedges and foundation plantings all benefit from some corrective or rejuvenation pruning. Spring is the best time to get your woody plants in shape. You may need to repair winter damage or trim plants that are getting too tall or too wide. An outdoor demonstration on the grounds of Cornell Cooperative Extension will include instruction on the different types of pruning. Learn which tool to use for the task at hand and how to care for your tools to keep them sharp and ready. Fertilizing, mulching, and watering will also be discussed.
