Callicoon Porchfest - A Woodstock 69 Tribute
August 16th, 17th and 18th, the historic hamlet of Callicoon, New York, located on the beautiful Delaware River, will host a free, 3 day, music and arts festival, to commemorate the original Woodstock event of 1969. Callicoon's first PorchFest includes 50+ musicians of all genres, as well as art, craft, poetry, theatre, dance, and film. Performances take place throughout the town, in traditional music venues, restaurants, event spaces, and on the front porches of many beautiful historic homes. Starting on Friday, August 16 – the celebration will begin with a Callicoon Block Party featuring music at Callicoon Brewing Company, Rafters Tavern, The Western Supper Club and outdoor porches on Lower and Upper Main Streets. The following bands and musicians will be featured on Friday from 6- 10 PM: Crier Brothers, Brotality, Yard Sale Band, Fisher & Kean, Hal Galper Trio, a Drum Circle lead by Deerheart Drumming, and a Fire Dance performance by Raina Bowers and Co. On Saturday homes and businesses will serve as stages from 12 noon to 8 PM presenting artists, ranging from Bluegrass to Blues to Rock and Soul. Several bands will pay tribute to the music of Woodstock 69. The line-up to date includes: Bob Tellefsen / Richie Havens tribute, Poison Love Band/ Neil Young tribute, Slam Allen Band, Allen Brothers, Ameranouche (gypsy jazz) Yasgur, Little Sparrow, Cliff Westfall, Shlomo Franklin, The Greg Castro Band, Oxford Depot, The Electric Cords, Beat the Devil, Side FX, Sage Clearing, Kazrie Jaxen, Kathy Geary, Janet Burgan to name a few. Performance groups to date include the Catskill Dance Company & Farm Arts Collective. An Indie Market will be at Callicoon Creek Park featuring crafts by local and regional artisans plus craft beer and food trucks. The park will also include a variety of children’s activities such as face-painting and picnic area with a music stage. On Sunday – music will continue at the Farmers’s Market and several eateries will feature Jazz Brunches, galleries will have book signings and art tour will round of the day showcasing the work of Frosty Meyers at the Wild Turkey Sculpture Park in Damascus, PA just across the river from Callicoon. Throughout the weekend a number of local breweries and distilleries will be on site.
