Operation Feed Phase 2 To Present Check to Non-Profit, A Single Bite

Organizers and the leadership team of Operation Feed Phase 2 will be holding a Presentation and
Photo Opportunity on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 12 Noon at Piccolo Paese Ristorante Italiano
at 2071 NY-52, Liberty, NY 12754. The press conference will include a brief overview of the
scope of the initiative and will culminate with a check presentation to the non-profit A Single Bite
to support the production of the nutritious meals that are being distributed to families in need in
Sullivan County. This contribution represents grants from the The Community Foundation of
Orange & Sullivan’s COVID-19 Response Fund, Friends of Aileen Gunther, Senator Jen Metzger
and generous donations from organizations and friends.
OPERATION FEED PHASE 2 is a partnership of the Liberty NY Rotary Club, Rotary Club of
Monticello NY, Town of Fallsburg Lions Club, Tri-Valley Lions Club, Boys and Girls Club of
Sullivan County, Liberty, Monticello, Fallsburg & Tri-Valley School Districts, The Community
Foundation of Orange & Sullivan and A Single Bite. The initiative is providing nutritious meals
produced by Foster Supply Hospitality and A Single Bite to over 120 families in need in four
communities. “Since Operation Feed Phase 2 began on 5/22/2000 over 70 volunteers from the
participating organizations have delivered close to 6000 meals and we continue to provide meals
throughout the county with the support of numerous school personnel, community partners and
individuals,” said Sims Foster, co-founder of A Single Bite and Foster Supply Hospitality.
OPERATION FEED Phase 1 began on March 31st with the purpose of supporting essential &
healthcare workers and local businesses restaurants during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Phase 1 was a
6 week program that provided 2650 meals to over 1000 essential/healthcare workers in Sullivan
County supporting 28 local restaurants where the meals were purchased pumping over $26,000
into the local Sullivan County economy. The program culminated with the OPERATION FEED
Honors Ride which took place on Friday, May 9th where volunteers and supporters escorted by the
Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department rode throughout Sullivan County honoring our local
essential and healthcare workers as well as the participating businesses with noisemakers, signs
and other ways of showing gratitude for their service during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
On May 22nd the program pivoted to Phase 2 with the mission of providing local families in need
with nutritious meals during the Covid-19 pandemic and sourcing those meals locally through A
Single Bite. “Existing poverty and hunger has only been intensified by this unprecedented Covid-
19 Pandemic and we are proud to participate with so many great local organizations to help
provide the families in need with nutritious meals twice a week,” says Phase 2 coordinator Gary
Silver. “A Single Bite produces the healthy meals and our organizations and volunteers distribute
them twice a week.”
