Tuskegee Airmen-inspired RedTail Flight Academy Welcomes Seven Minority Students at New York Stewart International Airport
 
What: The RedTail Flight Academy (RFA) will celebrate the opening of its state-of-the-art flight academy on September 10, 2021 at New York Stewart International Airport. Honoring the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen, the RedTail Flight Academy will train minority youth from underserved communities to develop a pipeline of diverse aviators and future leaders. 
 
Founded by the New York-based chapter of Tuskegee Airmen Inc.--under it’s Lee A. Archer Jr. Red Tail Youth Flying Program 501(c)3--RFA will use aviation as a developmental tool focusing on STEM, leadership development, and the legacy of the original Tuskegee Airmen. The training program is a 10- month curriculum, certifying students between the ages of 18-21 with a FAA CFR Part 141 multi-engine commercial pilot license and an instrument rating.

Who: Honored guests, community partners, students, and their families will hear from Carole Hopson, United Airlines pilot and author of the Bessie Coleman-inspired novel “A Pair of Wings” during the outdoor ceremony.
 
Original Documented Tuskegee Airmen Charles McGee, Brigadier General is expected to attend along with  Lieutenant Colonel Enoch Woodhouse.
