Support Liberty Rotary Club's Haiti Earthquake Disaster Relief Efforts

August 30, 2021
At 8:30 a.m. on August 14, a strong, shallow earthquake rocked southwestern Haiti.  The 7.2 magnitude quake, which was 10 km deep, toppled buildings and homes and damaged infrastructure and roads, cutting off access to some roads in the southwest such as National Road 7 (RN#7) connecting Les Cayes and Jeremie, and forcing many to flee their homes in fear that they may collapse.  There have been many casualties and deaths reported in the areas in the southwest parts of Haiti.
We have been in contact with many of our friends in Haiti who are providing intel and information about the immediate needs, including the Les Cayes, Camp-Perrin and Aquin Rotary Clubs.  Rotary District 7020 (which Includes Haiti) Past District Governor Robert Leger and member of the Les Cayes  Rotary Club is helping us coordinate our relief efforts.  Gustav Clivens, who lives in Ile a Vache (an island 6.5 miles south of Les Cayes that our mission teams have visited) has been working in Les Cayes and providing intel and information for us to assess, as well as providing direct relief to families in need.
To date, more than 2,200 people have died and more than 340 are missing.  More than 50,000 homes were destroyed and another 77,000 were damaged. The need there is tremendous.
On behalf of our friends in Haiti, we are seeking donations to support those in need.  No donation is too small or too large.

All proceeds raised will go to the Liberty NY Rotary Club Disaster Relief Fund and will be used to provide relief as determined by our assessments of the situation on the ground in Haiti.
