The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) is thrilled to announce its participation in the 2024 Upstate Art Weekend, Thursday, July 18th through Sunday, July 21st. The weekend kicks off Thursday, July 18th 5-8 PM with a Catskills Pride Artist Mixer with Danielle Klebes in Krause Hall and DVAA’s balcony with Catskill Provisions serving craft cocktails. On Saturday, July 20th, 1-3 PM, DVAA hosts Coffee and Conversation with Glenn Lieberman where he will discuss the rise and fall of the Borscht Belt resorts.
This is the first year that DVAA will be included in Upstate Art Weekend’s programs and marks an exciting expansion of the map to the edge of New York State along the Delaware River. Including the artistic community of Narrowsburg and the Upper Delaware River Valley represents a natural progression for Upstate Art Weekend, celebrating the dynamic arts scene beyond NYC.
"Upstate Art Weekend offers a unique opportunity to put a spotlight on and celebrate the incredible artists, arts organizations, and projects taking place in our area.”
-Ariel Shanberg, DVAA Executive Director

Upstate Art Weekend, founded by Helen Toomer in 2020, is an annual event designed to connect the public with contemporary art and artists across Upstate New York. Historically centered around the Hudson Valley, the event includes open studios, art exhibitions, and special events, offering visitors a chance to explore the rich and diverse cultural landscape outside of New York City.
In addition to the Hudson River corridor, which includes formidable institutions like Storm King and Dia Beacon, DVAA aims to help stake out new corridors along the Delaware River and across the Sullivan Catskills. By connecting Sullivan County artists and organizations with the broader Upstate Art Weekend network, we can show the artistic diversity of the region and encourage visitors to explore our area's creative scene. Local artists are encouraged to start planning for next year's event and be on the lookout for DVAA announcements on how to submit their projects for inclusion in the 2025 program.

DVAA serves as a home in the Upper Delaware Valley and Sullivan Catskills Region, giving artists platforms to share their voices in our galleries, on our stages, and at our festivals, including Riverfest in July and the Big Eddy Film Festival held every September. DVAA funds Sullivan County creatives and cultural organizations through our role as the county's Arts Council.
DVAA's programs are made possible thanks in part to the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency with support from the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature; the Nancy Stevenson Memorial Fund; our Business Sponsors; DVAA members; and individuals like you.
