Hudson Valley Gives Raises More than $600,000 for 180 Local Nonprofits with Virtual Fundraising Day
Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan’s online initiative supports nonprofits in seven counties.
MONTGOMERY, NY (May 20, 2021) – This year’s 6th annual Hudson Valley Gives had its most successful campaign yet. The fully online fundraiser to support local nonprofits is hosted by the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS). The initiative provides organizations with a platform to reach online donors through a focused 24-hour collaborative effort. A total of $612,746 and counting has been raised for 180 organizations from 3,826 donors.
“The pandemic has placed enormous financial stress on nonprofits in the region that have had increasing demand for their services while at the same time being unable to host traditional fundraising events,” said Nicole Feller Lee, CFOS Director of Development and Communications. “Reaching online donors is more critical than ever, and we are honored to provide charitable organizations with a way to do just that!”
“It’s been a challenging year for local businesses and individuals as well,” said Elizabeth Rowley, CFOS President & CEO. “But they stepped up their giving again this year, making it clear that Hudson Valley residents are as generous as they come!”

Most of the more than $600,000 raised was donated online over a 24-hour period on Wednesday, May 19 to support organizations throughout the Hudson Valley.
“$600,000 will have an enormous impact on these local charities!” added Rowley. “We are truly humbled by the generosity displayed. Hudson Valley Gives 2021 provides hope that even in the tough times people are looking for a way to help their neighbors and make a difference.”
The event’s giving marked nearly a 20% increase in donations over last year to support charities in seven counties providing life-enriching programs and critical services that Hudson Valley residents appreciate or depend upon. When combined with giving totals from years past, charitable giving through Hudson Valley Gives now stands at more than $2 million.
For the second year running, SUNY Orange Foundation raised the most of all the participating nonprofits, a total of $37,165 from its generous online donor base. It was another amazing day! We continue to be humbled and so appreciative of the incredible support we received for Hudson Valley Gives. So many board members, alumni, faculty, administrators, and friends stepped up to support SUNY Orange students yesterday - we couldn't be prouder to be part of this SUNY Orange family,” said Dawn Ansbro, Executive Director, SUNY Orange Foundation. “Many thanks to the Community Foundation for providing regional nonprofits with this platform to share our stories. We are truly grateful for your leadership and encouragement."

Participating organizations were encouraged to fundraise creatively by the awarding of cash prizes throughout the day from a prize pool established thanks to donations from local businesses. Hudson Valley Gives corporate sponsors include Planet Wings, Pizza E Birra, C’est La Vie Spa & Salon, Resorts World Catskills, Standback General Contractors, Walden Savings Bank, Healey Brothers, Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Rowley Family Foundation, Fox Hill Bruderhof Community, Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, GiveGab, Newburgh Brewing Company, Construction Contractors Association, Garnet Health, Seely & Durland Insurance, William A.
