Resorts World Catskills Helps Local Non-Profit Combat Food Insecurity

Monticello, NY – To help combat staggering reports of food insecurity in Sullivan County, Resorts World Catskills is donating to non-profit A Single Bite to help support its Family Meals Program. A Single Bite feeds and educates its neighbors with natural, healthy food through its community Family Meals Program, as well as a school-based educational program. Bob DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East, and Meghan Taylor, Vice President, Government Affairs and Public Relations, Resorts World Catskills and Resorts World New York City, presented a $4,500 check from Resorts World to Sims Foster, co-founder of Foster Supply Hospitality and a Single Bite and Audrey Garro, Executive Director of A Single Bite. DeSalvio also presented a personal check of $4,500 to the organization.

Collaborating with school administrators, community organizations, and dedicated volunteers, A Single Bite has been reaching deep into Sullivan County to deliver nearly 60,000 prepared meals to low-income families, those affected by the COVID-19 crisis, and those who can't reliably access healthy food. The Family Meals Program was launched during the height of the pandemic to help feed the organization’s neighbors when schools closed in Sullivan County.

"24% of our children are living in poverty. And more than 15% of residents experience food insecurity, a crisis that existed well before the pandemic and continues to impact our community," said Sims Foster, Co-Founder, Foster Supply Hospitality and A Single Bite. "The partnership of Resorts World Catskills will provide up to 900 children with what is for many their only complete meal of the day. We look forward to working together to assist families who are struggling to put food on the table."

"A Single Bite's commitment to the families of Sullivan County has truly inspired us at Resorts World Catskills and we are proud to partner with this amazing organization to provide support and resources to the residents of Sullivan County," said Bob DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East.
