East Valley Director
POSITION SUMMARY: The East Valley Director will focus on all operations of the East Valley camps. This will include the Frost Valley Farm Camp, East Valley Ranch Summer Camp, and East Valley Ranch year round programs, as well as acting as a liaison for all support departments in the East Valley with support from the Senior Director of Youth Development. This role will include staff oversight and supervision, fiscal management and revenue generation, marketing and communications, and program design and implementation. The East Valley Director will also place high priority on communication with Main Camp, crossover program standards and procedures, and overall connection with the Main Camp. The East Valley Director will work to ensure the camping program and year round programming exceeds the expectations of the campers, guests and staff while meeting the goals of the department and the mission of Frost Valley and the YMCA. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: ? Manage a team of year-round staff,one managing Farm Camp and one managing East Valley Ranch, along with 35 summer seasonal staff. Responsibilities include recruitment, hiring, training, performance evaluation, scheduling, and disciplinary actions. ? Collaborate closely with the Senior Director of Youth Development to develop and oversee the annual budget for East Valley programs. Employ creative strategies to drive revenue growth while efficiently managing expenses, maintaining the delivery of exceptional programming. ? During summer camp, liaise with support departments (maintenance, food service, etc.) to ensure that all East Valley needs are met. Ensure that staff adhere to Frost Valley Program Quality Standards and comply with external regulations such as those set by the Department of Health and the American Camp Association. ? Work in conjunction with the Marketing Department to develop and implement effective strategies to engage East Valley campers and guests. This includes activities like sending regular monthly emails, participating in camp fairs, and hosting open houses. ? Serve as the primary point of contact for all East Valley programs outside of summer camp. Be physically present during evenings and weekends during program activities and be available on-call as necessary. ? Oversee the recruitment, booking, and execution of East Valley programs throughout the year, encompassing events such as girl scout weekends, family reunions, adventure guides, school groups, and others. ? Contribute innovative ideas to enhance Frost Valley's East Valley programs, ensuring they align with guest needs, retention goals, and the organization's core values. ? Deliver exceptional customer service to all East Valley guests, striving for high levels of satisfaction and retention. ? Actively participate as a member of the Program Director Team at Frost Valley. This includes attending staff meetings, contributing to the formulation of camp policies, engaging in committee work throughout the year, and supporting the success of all Frost Valley Program Departments. ? Demonstrate good judgment in decision-making and willingness to abide by the Frost Valley Core Values (honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, community, stewardship, diversity, inclusion) ? All other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: ? Must be 25 years of age or older ? Bachelor’s degree in related field required, Master’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience ? Minimum five years’ experience working with youth in a camp or YMCA setting, at least three years’ proven experience in a leadership/administration/director position ? Must have previous experience running summer overnight programs in a Camp Director level capacity ? Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and database systems ? Possess current First Aid/CPR certification and certification by a nationally recognized equine organization preferred (certifications can be earned upon hire at Frost Valley) ? Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and walk up to 10 miles a day ? Excellent communication and organization skills, successful working under pressure, able to lead a team and work well with children, other staff, and families ? Possess a valid US Driver’s License and be able to pass internal FV driver training ? Excellent communication and organization skills, a strong and reliable leader ? Successful working under pressure and safety-minded in decision-making ? Available to work evenings and weekend ?
