Head Gardener

Granite Associates, Liberty, NY, is seeking a head gardener to oversee, maintain and develop the Owner’s estate and office location landscapes in an efficient and high quality manner by applying standards as well as specialized horticultural practices.

Duties include :

· Arboricultural activities when required

· Supporting other teams within the organization when required

· Care and maintenance of all flower beds, pots and hanging baskets

· Care and maintenance of vegetable gardens, blueberry & raspberry patches, and landscape beds

· Organization and recording of the harvests for distribution of vegetables and fruits

· Care for indoor plants at residence and Corporate location

· Proper use and care of all equipment

· Ability to detect pest or disease problems and to report to supervisor

· Maintain a professional manner at all times

· Management of assistant gardener(s); training, keeping records and schedules of time, maintaining morale on daily basis

· Responsible for company vehicles; clean vehicles at all times

· Exhibit adequate communication skills

· Assist in special events at corporate location and other locations as requested.

· Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Minimum of 5 years working in horticulture environment highly preferred

· Current certification for OSHA 10 (or willing to obtain)

· Knowledge of plants and vegetables

· Ability to train entry level gardener assistants as needed

· Reliability and positive work ethic

· Good communication and organizational skills

· Possess a valid driver’s license

· Open and creative mindset

· Ability to take as well as give direction

· Strong team leader and player

· Demonstrates willingness to grow in position including attendance at training classes preferred

· Ability to work in all types of weather
