SHOUT IT OUT! Sunday, October 29, 2017 | 2-5pm. Garland Nelson will take us on an interactive journey through the African-American musical experience from slavery to soul, using vocalization, call and response, percussion, slides, film clips and more. Join us as we examine the foundations of African music and its seminal importance to American music today. Garland Nelson, front man for the band Soul Session, is an entertainer’s entertainer, full of pure energy! Audiences experience an emotional journey through Garland’s interactive workshops which include plantation and hymnal songs from the African American vocal tradition. Space is limited, so advanced registration is recommended. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $15 (adults) and $10 (youth under 18). At the door, entry will be $20 for adults and $15 for youth under 18, while space allows.
