New Year's Meditation Retreat in the Catskills - The Power to Change The New Year represents a new beginning. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the year gone by and come to conclusions about how best to spend the coming year. On this beginner-friendly retreat, you will discover Buddha’s timeless wisdom and practical methods for bringing about sustainable change and authentic happiness. In particular, how the tool of meditation allows us to transform at a deep level. Through applying these skillful methods we can make swift progress towards becoming the kind, effective, and joyful person we wish to be. This meditation retreat is very accessible. You do not need to bring any mats or wear any special clothing. We provide both cushions and chairs, and there is no physical exercise, yoga, or stretching involved. Retreat Cost is $60. Retreat Stucture: There are four sessions each day. Sessions combine practical instruction and guided meditation that will allow you to; connect with an experience of true inner peace, develop basic techniques that can help you to create a consistent habit of meditation, and leave with practical inner tools to apply what you’ve have learned to your daily life. During the Breaks between retreat sessions take time to relax and enjoy the tranquility of our 82 acres of grounds and nature trails, connect and discuss with like-minded people, relax in the World Peace Cafe and explore our bookstore and gift shop. Kadampa Meditation Center New York offers meditation classes, day courses, retreats, Buddhist prayers chanted in English and a chance to learn about the Buddhist way of life. Classes range from beginner to advanced and are designed to help those who wish to learn to meditate, start a meditation practice or to meditate in a group setting, as well as for those who wish to deepen their understanding of basic Buddhist thought and practice. KMC-NY offers group & corporate visits, mindfulness workshops & presentations, kids meditation, field trips, accommodations & meals, and community outreach. Kadampa World Peace Temple houses a World Peace Café & espresso bar, vegetarian fare, a bookstore and gift shop featuring a range of unique gifts, cards, meditation accessories, Buddhist art, and books on Buddhism and meditation.
