John Conway, Sullivan County historian, will be at the Liberty Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday August 17th at 6:30 pm for a presentation on the historic castles in Sullivan County. Sullivan County is home to three castles. Although at one time or another each of these castles was well known to the public, none of them is very visible, literally, or figuratively today. The three castles include the Dundas Castle on the Beaverkill in Craig-e-Clare, the most magnificent and mysterious of the three; the Hillig Castle on Washington Mountain outside Liberty; and the Muller Castle in Monticello. Mr. Conway will explore the history of the three buildings, their origin, use and decline. A question-and-answer period will follow the presentation. This presentation will be held both in-person or virtually via Zoom. Registration is requested but not mandatory. For more information or to register, call the library at 292-6070, email lib@rcls.org, or stop in at 189 N. Main St, Liberty, NY 12754. In order to get the Zoom link, please email the library at lib@rcls.org prior to 2 pm on Tuesday August 17th.
