Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce 2027 Board of Directors Nominations Now Open


Nomination Deadline: Friday, October 10 by 5:00 PM (close of business)

 

The Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2027 Board of Directors term beginning January 1, 2027, until December 31, 2029.


As the uniting force for business in Sullivan County, the Chamber Board of Directors provides leadership, guidance, and strategic direction to advance our mission:

 

Strengthening the community by advancing a vibrant and sustainable local economy.

Our Board is composed of dedicated business and community leaders who believe in the power of collaboration, advocacy, and partnership. Directors help shape the future of the Chamber, support programs and initiatives, advocate for businesses, and strengthen connections throughout Sullivan County.

 

The 2027 Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will be announced on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at the Your Partner for Success 2026 Annual Awards Gala.


About Board Service

Serving on the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is an opportunity to:

  • Represent the interests and needs of the business community
  • Support initiatives that strengthen Sullivan County’s economy
  • Guide the strategic direction of the Chamber
  • Connect businesses, community partners, and resources
  • Participate in Chamber programs, events, and advocacy efforts
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Chamber and its members

Board service requires active participation, collaboration, and a commitment to advancing the Chamber’s mission.


Board Member Qualifications & Expectations

 To be considered for nomination, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Active membership with the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce in good standing
  • A commitment to supporting and positively promoting the mission of the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce
  • A willingness to actively participate in Board meetings, Chamber programs, events, and strategic initiatives
  • A desire to collaborate with fellow business and community leaders to support the growth and success of Sullivan County businesses
  • Board meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of each month, with a goal of attending one-third of the meetings in person, annually. 
  • A commitment to actively engage with Chamber initiatives, programs, committees, and events throughout the year, recognizing that participation may occur in a variety of ways based on professional and personal schedules.

Board members are encouraged to attend Chamber events and programs whenever possible and serve as ambassadors for the organization. The Chamber recognizes that many business leaders have professional responsibilities and scheduling commitments; therefore, meaningful engagement may include attending events, participating on committees, supporting initiatives, advocating for business priorities, and connecting with fellow members.

As the Chamber continues to strengthen its leadership structure, we are working toward a more engaged board model that includes deeper committee involvement, stronger leadership development, and increased participation in Chamber initiatives.

Board expectations will continue to evolve to encourage meaningful involvement, active leadership, and a strong pipeline of engaged business leaders.


Nomination Process

Nominations may be submitted by:

  • Current Chamber member
  • Current Board members
  • The nominee through self-nomination

All nominations must be reviewed and approved by the nominee before consideration by the Nominating Committee 


Each nomination must include:

  • Completed nomination form
  • Professional background or resume
  • Summary of community involvement and leadership experience
  • Statement of interest in serving on the Chamber Board

Key Dates

  • Nominations Due: Friday, October 10 by 5:00 PM (close of business)
  • Meet-the-Candidates Mixer: Thursday, October 15 at The Quiet Saint, Grahamsville, NY
  • Chamber Member Voting Closes: Friday, October 31
  • Announcement of 2027 Board of Directors: Thursday, November 12 at the Your Partner for Success 2026 Annual Awards Gala.
